7th Jyothirlinga Srisailam MallikarjunaποΈ

Srisailam! If there is one Jyothirlinga that surprises you with its sheer setting, it is Srisailam.ποΈ Tucked deep in the Nallamala forests perched above the mighty Krishna river, this is where Lord Shiva resides as Mallikarjuna – and the journey to get here is as sacred as the destination itself. πΏποΈ Another stop on our 12 Jyothirlinga journey.
The Divine Darshan β Smooth, Sacred & Worth Every Rupee πβ¨
We booked the special sparsha darshan at Mallikarjuna this needs to be booked week to 10 days prior on srisailam devasthanam official website, it was one of the best decisions we made . π Smooth, well organised, and it gave us a proper, unhurried moment before the Jyotirlinga. No pushing, no rushing β just you and touch Mallikarjuna in that sacred sanctum. π₯Ή
Standing before this Jyotirlinga felt different. Maybe it’s the remoteness of this place β the sense that you have truly travelled to reach Him. Maybe it’s the ancient energy of a temple that has stood here for centuries. Whatever it is, it gets you. Right in the chest. π
Bramaramba Devi Temple β Where Shiva & Shakti Meet πΈπ±
What makes Srisailam truly extraordinary is that it is BOTH a Jyotirlinga AND a Shakti Peetha β one of only a handful of places in India where this rare confluence exists. π²β¨ And the Bramaramba Devi temple within the complex carries that energy so powerfully. The goddess here is Bramaramba β fierce, beautiful, ancient β and the combined presence of Shiva and Shakti in one sacred space creates an atmosphere that is just indescribable. ποΈ
You feel both energies distinctly β Mallikarjuna’s deep, grounding stillness and Bramaramba’s vibrant, electric power. Do both darshans without fail. They are inseparable here. πβ€οΈ

Sakshi Ganapati Temple β Seek His Blessings First ππ
Before entering the main temple complex, devotees first visit Sakshi Ganapati β the witnessing Ganesha, who is believed to be the divine witness to all your prayers and vows made at Srisailam. πΈ There is something so beautiful about this tradition β you place your intentions before Ganesha first, and he carries them forward. A small temple but a deeply significant one. Start here β always! πβ¨

Travel Tips βοΈπ
Travel Mode π§³
βοΈ Flight
The nearest airports are Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (~220 km) and Kurnool Airport (~180 km). From either, hire a cab straight to Srisailam.
π Train
Markapur Road and Nandyal are the nearest railway stations, from where cabs are available to Srisailam.
π Bus
Overnight buses operate directly from Bangalore and Hyderabad β our personal recommendation and the most convenient option! APSRTC runs regular services and private operators are available too.
Accomodation π¨
The only accommodation available on the hills is the Devasthanam Trust accommodation β and the good news is, it is clean, comfortable and well maintained! π Just make sure you book well in advance through the official website because rooms fill up fast and there are absolutely no other options up here. Don’t take chances with this one! πβ°
Food stops π½οΈ
There are small, modest food shops around the temple area serving simple South Indian meals β reliable and filling, though prices are slightly on the higher side given the remote hilltop location. π The Devasthanam prasadam is available in the afternoon and that is something you absolutely must not miss β simple, sacred and soul-satisfying. π Don’t expect variety here β but what is available is wholesome and good!
Shopping zone ποΈπ³
A fair warning β everything here is a little pricey! π The remote hilltop location means travel costs naturally add up and that reflects in the prices. You will find pooja articles, wooden crafts and religious souvenirs worth picking up β but go in with realistic expectations on pricing. Buy what feels meaningful and don’t haggle too hard β the vendors here have quite a journey to get their goods up the hill too! ππ
Har Har Mahadev! Om Namo Bhagavate Mallikarjunaya! π±π
